Kos is a great vacation destination for anyone who loves to hit the clubs at night and do a spot of sightseeing during the day. This island has so much to offer, that you may struggle to check everything on your 'To-do' vacation list.

The islands' volcanic soil, mountain range and amazing beaches welcome thousands of visitors every year. It's thought that the harbor has been in use since 1,500 BC.

Free or Cheap Attractions

AsklepionAsklepion the ancient sanctuary and healing temple where Hippocrates once taught medicine.

The Plane Tree of Hippocrates — said to be where Hippocrates taught his pupils. It's worth a visit just to stand under such a historic tree.

Castle of the Knights — a 14th-century fortress guarding the entrance to the harbour.

Old Town & Eleftherias Square — perfect for a slow afternoon walk.

Beaches

  • Paradise Beach — fine golden sand and shallow turquoise water.
  • Tigaki — long sandy beach great for families and windsurfers.
  • Cavo Paradiso — wild and almost untouched at the south of the island.
  • Therma — a natural hot spring beach where warm volcanic water meets the sea.

Kos is perfectly placed for day trips to Nisyros, Pserimos and even Turkey (Bodrum).
