Free or Cheap Attractions
We don't all have a lot of money to spend when we go on vacation, so you may be pleased to know that there are plenty of free or low cost attractions available in Rhodes.
Acropolis of Lindos — entry is just a few euros. The enclosed battlements are simply incredible. Take a hat — there's not much shade here and it gets very hot.
The Jewish Quarter — situated in Rhodes Town, an example of a slower pace of life when compared to the busy parts of Rhodes. Free to enter; you may want to visit some of the shops and even the Jewish Synagogue Museum.
The Old Town — a UNESCO World Heritage Site, fully walled, filled with medieval buildings, hidden squares and atmospheric tavernas.
Beaches
Rhodes has beaches for every taste:
- Tsambika — golden sand and shallow turquoise water, great for families.
- Anthony Quinn Bay — a small dramatic cove with crystal-clear water.
- Prasonisi — at the southern tip, where two seas meet; a paradise for windsurfers.
- St. Paul's Bay — protected by cliffs, just below Lindos Acropolis.
Where to eat
Try Marco Polo Mansion in the Old Town for romantic Mediterranean dishes, or any quiet taverna in Lindos for local seafood. For street food, look for pitaroudia — chickpea fritters unique to the Dodecanese.
